Mickey Bergman is a negotiator involved in political prisoner negotiations for Americans unjustly detained overseas. Over the past decade, he has helped secure the release of high-profile inmates such as Trevor Reed, Brittney Griner and Danny Fenster.
In recent years, major armed conflicts have led to an increase in hostage-taking by state and non-state actors. Americans are increasingly detained as a means of political pressure, and traditional diplomacy is often at a standstill.
