Hailey Bieber says she’s ‘not ashamed’ of having full-time help as a mom

Hailey Bieber, 28, says there’s no shame in getting help as a working mom.

During an appearance on Friday’s episode of “In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele” podcast, Bieber said she relies on a strong support system to balance motherhood and her career.

“I have help. I have full-time help. And I’m not ashamed to say that,” Bieber told podcast host Owen Thiele. “And I would never hesitate to talk about it because I couldn’t have my career and do the things that I do without help.”

The Rhode founder and her husband, Justin Bieber, welcomed their son, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.

Although she’s always wanted to be a mom and is “super super super hands-on” with her son, she said she’s “grateful” to have other people around her.

“If he’s not with me, he’s with his dad,” Bieber said, adding that his son is “always with his family” or with someone close to their family, like his godparents.

Bieber added that becoming a mother at a young age comes with its own learning curve.

“I think it was intimidating, and then once he was here, it didn’t seem as intimidating,” Bieber said, referring to his son.

“I think when your life is about to change in a way that you’ve never experienced before, and you don’t know what to expect, and you don’t know what’s going to happen,” Bieber said.

She remembers being often told that no amount of planning could really prepare her for becoming a mother.

“And I think that’s very true because you just don’t know what it is until you’re there,” she said.

Now she’s figuring things out “day by day,” Bieber said.

“It feels like every day I learn something new about how to be a mom, what’s best for my son and what’s best for me as a mom,” she added.

Speaking to Vogue in May, Bieber said she suffered from postpartum body dysmorphia after giving birth.

“Postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve gone through in my life, and learning a new version of myself is very difficult,” Bieber said.

A representative for Bieber did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider after hours.

Bieber isn’t the only Hollywood star who has spoken out about juggling work and the demands of parenthood, or the help that makes it possible.

In 2023, Emma Roberts told People that she realized motherhood was “a full-time job” and was grateful for her family’s support.

“I’m so lucky my mom helps me a lot,” Roberts said. “I would die without my mother.”

During a podcast appearance in May, Michelle Williams said that balancing her career and duty as a mother was like figuring out “which master you’re going to serve.”

“Because the truth is, if the work is going well, someone else is taking care of the kids. And if you’re going through a tough time with your kids, the work gets pushed aside,” Williams said.

In September, Grey’s Anatomy actress Camilla Luddington said she recognized there was “no balance” when it came to balancing work and children.

“Giving up this need to be perfectly balanced at all times has been very liberating for me.”
