The feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk appears to be cooling down.
Trump said Monday he had a “good” relationship with the world’s richest man despite Musk’s “stupid moment” earlier this year.
He also said he had spoken with Musk “on and off, a little bit” since they were seen chatting at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in September.
“I love Elon, always have,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One as he traveled between Malaysia and Japan.
Trump referenced the public and nasty feud that erupted between the two men in June, which was largely sparked by Musk’s opposition to the “Big Beautiful Bill.” This happened shortly after Musk left the administration after leading the DOGE effort.
“He had a bad time, he had a bad period. He had a bad time,” Trump said. “It was a stupid time in his life, very stupid. I’m sure he would tell you that. But I love Elon, and I think I always will.”
Musk has largely toned down his criticism of Trump since the summer, and he has made little mention in recent months of the new third party he announced he would form after passage of Trump’s megabill.
That hasn’t stopped Musk from criticizing members of the Trump administration.
Last week, he argued with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy over who would run NASA after Duffy announced he was opening one of SpaceX’s contracts.
